Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain And Nub's Nob, all within 26 miles of each other, offer a combined 105 runs ranging from those designed for the brand new skier to those the professionals find challenging.
Nordic skiing is at its finest in Boyne Country. Some are groomed and tracked, while others are lighted for night skiing. Even some of the trails names sound adventurous and exciting,;Avalanche, Trout Creek, Wildwood Hills and Spring Brook, for example.

Our snowmobile trails are groomed, glistening and waiting to be ridden. More than 140 miles of trails criss-cross our area of northern Michigan. The Petoskey trail system connects to systems in East Jordan, Gaylord, Indian River and Harbor Springs and the petoskey snowmobile club hosts Sunday breakfasts. You can leave right from the door of some of our area lodging facilities. Bring your own sled or rent one when you get here.

Take a guided trail ride or leave the "driving" to someone else and enjoy a group sleigh ride, hay ride or carriage ride. Either way, the scenery here in northwest Michigan is sure to delight you as the horses klip-klop along.
Circle Lake Charlevoix
Leaving Boyne City, you'll pass Young State park and go on to Horton Bay (population 49 and former haunt of young Ernest Hemingway). On this tour, you'll pass golf courses and Mt. McSauba Park with its sand dunes, hiking trails, beach and ski area. Continue into downtown Charlevoix and straight over the "singing bridge". Then it's on to Ironton where the ferry ride ($2.00 with vehicle - 100 yards across) takes five minutes and saves a 15 mile trip around the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix. When leaving the ferry, scenic Ferry Road leads you back to Boyne City.
Tunnel Of Trees
M-119 takes you to Cross Village and home of Legs Inn, an historical and architectural wonder. Lakeview Road will take you past Sturgeon Bay and its sugar-sand beach and dunes. For a shorter tour, you can pass through Bliss and back to Pleasantview Road and Harbor Springs. 50 miles and about 1 1/4 hours. For a lengthier tour, you can travel Cecil Bay Road and stop for a visit at Wilderness State Park. Continuing on, you'll pass Colonial Fort Michilimackinac (a must see) in Mackinaw City. Taking route US 23 and M-68 then takes you to Alanson and on to either Petoskey or Harbor Springs. 10 miles and approximately 2 1/2 hours drive time.
Surf and Turf
Depart Charlevoix along US 131 south to Atwood. Turn east onto C-48 until you get to East Jordan and follow the Lake Charlevoix shoreline north. You'll pass rolling hills, scenic farms and the Ironton Ferry (check it out in "Ripley's Believe It or Not") on this route. Continuing back to US 31, it's a nice ride back to Charlevoix.

Boyne Country is a 30-mile corridor located in northern Michigan along U.S. 131 near Little Traverse Bay. It stretches from Boyne Falls and Boyne City north to Petoskey and Harbor Springs.
Pellston Regional Airport of Emmet County is served by Northwest Airlink. The Petoskey Bus Station is serviced by Indian Trails. Rental cars and taxis are available, but pre-arrangement i suggested. Private air strips serve Harbor Springs and Boyne USA Resorts.
If you don't like the weather in northern Michigan, just wait ten minutes - it'll change! Well, maybe it's not usually quite that quick, but it can be!
Boyne Country's average high temperature in the summer (June, July & August) is 76 degrees; in the fall (September, October and November) it's 56 degrees and in the winter (December, January & February), the average high temperature is 27. Rainfall May through September averages about 3.2 inches per month and in the winter, 140 inches of the fluffy white stuff generally blankets the area.
