Lake James, South Live Cam

Boat Rental

V-bottom fishing boats can be rented for $2.50 per hour or $9.50 per day plus tax. Paddle boats are $5 per hour plus tax. Life cushions are required for both types of boats. You may bring your own or use one of the park's free of charge. The rental location is in front of the Potawatomi Inn. Pontoon boats can be rented May through Sept. 30. The cost varies. Rates range from $100 to $125 per day. Contact the Potawatomi Inn to make a reservation.

Picnicking

Tables, grills, playground equipment and play fields are provided. Picnickers are reminded there are no trash receptacles at the park. Garbage bags are available at the front gate. Winter picnicking at Pokagon is also allowed.

Cross Country Skiing

Three cross country skiing trails are available at the park. Difficulty ranges from easy to moderate. Trails are open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. when conditions are favorable. There must be six inches of snow for the trails to be open. There are no ski rental fees. Warming center and concessions available.

Toboggan

Pokagon is home to the state's only refrigerated toboggan slide. The toboggan is open Thanksgiving through the last Sunday in Feb. Riders reach speeds of nearly 50 miles per hour. Slide hours are Friday 5-10 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sunday and Holidays 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The toboggan has extended hours during Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Sleds must be rented at the park and are $4 per toboggan per hour. Each toboggan holds 4 people. They are rented first come, first serve. No reservations.
