At Big Boulder, we understand how important "family time" is. That's why we've been helping families have fun together since 1947. Our winter playground has something for everyone, skiing, snowboarding, even snow tubing. You'll find our terrain the perfect place for kids or adults to learn. And even though there's lots of room to explore, each trail leads you right back to our base area.
We offer a wide variety of instruction; everything from introduction to skiing packages to junior racing programs. What's more, skiing is free for kids 5 & under who bring along a skiing parent. And with our junior lift ticket, kids ages 6 to 15 ski for $20 anytime (less than any other ski area in the Poconos). Now that makes family time more affordable than ever.
Of course, any great winter experience begins with snow, lots of snow. In order to ensure the most skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing possible, we've covered our entire trail network with a state-of-the-art snowmaking system. And with our elevation, the conditions are ideal for making more snow, more often.
Our extensive lift system ensures you'll spend your time on the slopes, not waiting to get there. With 7 chairlifts and an uphill capacity of 9,600 people per hour, your next run is never more than a quick ride away.
Because you'll never want the day to end at Big Boulder, we turn on the lights and keep all of our trails open for night skiing, snow tubing, the half-pipe and the Bonk Yard (snowboard park) all week long. Our ski school also offers special nighttime lessons, and evening babysitting is available. Night operations at Big Boulder start December 26 (or sooner, depending on the weather). Skiing lasts until 10:00 p.m. Sunday-Friday and until 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
We specialize in kids. All of our children's programs, from babysitting to ski school, are staffed by professionals who understand the needs of different age groups and abilities. And because we know that kids learn best when they're enjoying themselves, you can be sure they'll be having as much fun as you are all day long. Offered three times daily, these sessions are an excellent way for kids ages 3 to 8 to get their first taste of skiing. Each child receives a 3-hour lesson with one of our specially trained instructors, an all day/all night lift ticket, and indoor/outdoor supervision. Kids C'n Ski packages are available with or without rental equipment and start at 9:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 5:00 pm.
Established along the same lines of its skiing counterpart, this snowboard program will put children ages 6 to 8 on the road to a lifetime of fun. Sessions are offered on weekends and holidays only and start at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. When you leave your child in our care, we want you to be able to relax and enjoy your day on the mountain. That's why we've designed a play environment to make kids happy and parents comfortable. We offer full-day, half-day, and evening sessions (evening session offered at Big Boulder only) with discounts for families with more than one child.
There's nothing like coming home to comfortable accommodations at the end of a perfect day. The crackle of a roaring fire, the steam rising from your hot tub, curled up and comfy as the snow falls outside it's the stuff of dreams. We offer a wide range of midweek, weekend, monthly, and seasonal packages. Hot tubs are available with some homes for an additional $75 per night.
It's the perfect reason to visit us during the week. Your package includes; lodging in a Big Boulder or Jack Frost Mountain townhome, and dinner each night at the Blue Heron Grille on Big Boulder Lake. Each person also receives a voucher redeemable for one of the following: all day/all night lift ticket, Splatter paintball game field pass (ages 10 and up), full day snow tubing ticket, or $12 credit toward any lift, lesson & rental package. And best of all, children (8 & under) stay, ski, and eat free.
Located on Big Boulder Lake, the Blue Heron Grill offers fine dining in a casual, family atmosphere. Enjoy a hearty Sunday Breakfast Buffet before hitting the slopes. Take out and Delivery are available to Big Boulder Villages. Weekends are hot with live entertainment, downstairs at The Cellar Nightclub! Children's menu available.
Pocono Mountain ski areas continue to expand and improve their facilities. The Pocono Mountains offer great skiing and snowboarding, but what if you don't do either one or are looking for something different? Snowtubing is the newest and easiest way to have fun sliding down a snowy slope. Snowtubing is showing up at ski areas throughout the Pocono Mountains. The young and young at heart have taken to this growing sport that requires no lesson or any special equipment. Just show up at the slope, jump on a supplied inner tube and have fun!
The Pocono Mountains encompass 2,400 square miles of beautiful woodlands in Carbon, Monroe, Pike, and Wayne County, Pennsylvania. They are home to 150 lakes, including Lake Wallenpaupack, one of the largest man-made lakes in Pennsylvania. The Delaware River, Lehigh River, and Lackawaxen River flow through the region, which is also graced by hundreds of streams, and some of the lovliest waterfalls in the eastern U.S. The Poconos are home to seven State Parks and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. If you enjoy hiking, camping, or exploring the great outdoors, you'll love the Pocono Mountains. Because of its many natural rarities, The Pocono's has been named "One of the World's 40 Last Great Places" by the Nature Conservancy, a nationwide not-for profit conservation organization.
