The starting point of the tour is Flensburg. The romantic city on the fjord is the gateway to Scandinavia. There, on the Flensburg Fjord, the white moated castle in Glücksburg rises majestically. It continues over the nature reserve Friedeholz and Langballigau. After the quaint fishing and sailing port, it's off to Geltinger Bay and then on to the Baltic Sea.

There is a lot to discover during a holiday on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea. Almost 400 kilometers of coastline, this is also a vacation between famous landmarks. The Glücksburg moated castle in the far north is considered the “cradle” of almost all European royal families. The four-masted barque Passat, sister ship of the sunken training ship “Pamir”, is firmly moored in the south-east of the country, on the quay of the Travemünde harbor.

The route leads through the idyllic Angels landscape to the cute little town of Kappeln an der Schlei. Incidentally, the ZDF television series “Der Landarzt” was filmed there. Small alleys as well as the museum and marina invite you to stroll. After crossing the swing bridge on the Schlei, you have arrived in Schwansen. Here, too, the motto is: Baltic Sea port! If you want to experience some South Sea magic in addition to the Baltic Sea waves, Damp is the right place for you. The subtropical swimming paradise "Aqua Tropicana" is located here in the holiday park. From there it is not far to Eckernförde. The fishing port, the old town and the wooden bascule bridge are absolutely worth seeing.

The former Olympic Center from 1972 is in Kiel-Schilksee, on the Kiel Fjord. The Olympic spirit can still be felt today. A stroll through the harbor is definitely worth it! The sailing regattas of the Kiel Week take place here every year. A little further, in Kiel-Holtenau, it goes over the Kiel Canal and on to the state capital. How about a detour to the Molfsee open-air museum? Over 65 farmhouses, cottages and mills bring the past closer. Anyone who continues to circumnavigate the fjord comes to the seaside resort of Laboe, with its naval memorial. An original submarine can also be viewed from the inside here.

Sights that are easy to discover on your own include the Sea Life Center in the posh seaside resort of Timmendorfer Strand, the Marine Memorial in Laboe or the Cismar Monastery near Grömitz. But where is the Bridegroom Oak and where is the Childhood Museum? So that holidaymakers can see and experience as much as possible, the Ostseebäderverband has reissued its information brochure "OstsehTipps". The "OstsehTipps" are compact and rich in images, which are guides and appetizers for trips to tropical water parks, zoos and museums. A museum train steams on Schönberger Strand, and the Fehmarn Marine Center attracts visitors to the sunny holiday island (1,683 hours of sunshine).
