The routes detailed below all direct you from Junction 30 (Exeter services) near the end of the M5 Motorway. You should decide which route to take dependent on whether you want the more direct route or whether you want to avoid narrow roads. We suggest that you check with motoring organizations such as the AA and listen to traffic reports before and during your journey to ensure that you take the best route on the day you are travelling.

Take Junction 31 from the M5 Motorway, signposted A30 (the exit after Exeter Services). Continue on the A30 trunk road, past Okehampton, Launceston and Bodmin (dual carriageway the whole way except for several short sections on Bodmin Moor), until you get to the large roundabout at the end of the Bodmin bypass. Go straight across the roundabout, signposted A30 (the road ceases to be dual carriageway from this point). Shortly after the BP petrol stations and Little Chef at Victoria, you will come to a sign for Padstow and Wadebridge B3274. Take this right turning (this is a narrow, twisting, road with a few single track sections with passing places). After about five miles you will reach Winnards Perch roundabout (where A39 crosses B3274). Take the second exit (signposted Padstow) onto the B3274.

NB if you are going to St Merryn or the Bays (except Trevone) see next paragraph at this point. For Padstow continue on the B3274 (becomes the A389 after about 4 miles) for about 6 miles until you will come to Padstow. If you are going to Trevone or missed the earlier turning for St Merryn or the bays take the turning signposted Newquay B3274 and continue along this road. There are signposts off this to the various bays/villages.

For St Merryn and all the Bays except Trevone - from the Winnards Perch roundabout continue on the B3274 for about three miles until you come to a small crossroads where you turn left (signposted St Merryn). Continue on this road, across a staggered crossroads and into the centre of St Merryn and then follow the signs for the various bays.

Take Junction 31 from the M5 Motorway, signposted A30 (the exit after Exeter Services). Continue on the A30 trunk road past Okehampton, Launceston and Bodmin (dual carriageway the whole way except for several short sections on Bodmin Moor) until you get to the large roundabout at the end of the Bodmin bypass. Go straight across the roundabout, signposted A30 (this is a single carriageway road from this point). Shortly after the BP petrol stations and Little Chef at Victoria, you will come to a sign for Padstow and Wadebridge B3274 - ignore this right turning and keep on the A30 until, shortly after passing under the railway bridge, you see another sign for Newquay, St. Columb, Padstow. Take this road and continue to the roundabout. Take the last exit (signposted Wadebridge A39). Continue along this road for about 2 miles to the Winnards Perch roundabout.

Take Junction 31 from the M5 Motorway, signposted A30 (the exit after Exeter Services). Continue on the A30 trunk road past Okehampton and Launceston. About 1 mile past Launceston take the turning onto the A395 (signposted Camelford, Wadebridge, North Cornwall). At the end of this road turn left onto the the A39 (signposted Wadebridge). Carry on this road until you reach a roundabout just before Wadebridge. Take the third exit (signposted A39 Truro) onto the Wadebridge bypass. You will pass The Royal Cornwall Showground on your left and after about a mile turn right onto the A389 (signposted Padstow). Continue on this road, through St Issey and Little Petherick, until you come to a T-junction.

Take Junction 31 from the M5 Motorway, signposted A30 (the exit after Exeter Services). Continue on the A30 trunk road past Okehampton and Launceston. About 1 mile past Launceston take the turning onto the A395 (signposted Camelford, Wadebridge, North Cornwall). At the end of this road turn left onto the the A39 ( signposted Wadebridge). You will pass The Royal Cornwall Showground on your left and after about a mile you will see a right turn onto the A389 (signposted Padstow) - ignore this and continue on the A39 until you reach the Winnards Perch roundabout (where B3274 crosses A39). Take the third exit (signposted Padstow) onto the B3274.

Take the turning signposted Liskeard A38, Bodmin (A389). Continue on this road which becomes the A389 (do not take the turning off this - the A38 to Liskeard). At the T junction turn right signposted A389 Bodmin and Wadebridge. At the mini roundabout turn right signposted A389 Wadebridge (this is the road which bypasses Bodmin town centre). Continue for just under a mile until you come to a double mini roundabout. Take the turning to the right signposted A389 Wadebridge. Continue on this road for about 6 miles (ignoring the turning for Wadebridge town centre) until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit (signposted A39 Truro) onto the A39 Wadebridge bypass. You will pass The Royal Cornwall Showground on your left and after about a mile turn right onto the A389 (signposted Padstow). You will pass The Royal Cornwall Showground on your left and after about a mile you will see a right turn onto the A389 (signposted Padstow) - ignore this and continue on the A39 until you reach the Winnards Perch roundabout (the first roundabout - where B3274 crosses A39). Take the third exit (signposted Padstow) onto the B3274.

The Coastal Path breathtaking scenery, towering cliffs, narrow coves nestling in the rugged coastline The Camel Trail, following the route, by the estuary, of the old railway line a haven for wildlife and flowers, beautiful views. Can also be explored by bike. The Saints Way an ancient path used by early Christian saints who landed at Padstow from Ireland and made their way across Cornwall to Fowey.
