At the southernmost tip of the Continental United States lies the island paradise, Key West. With its own unique charm and laid back lifestyle. However the end of US 1 is just the beginning, let Seaplanes of Key West fly you a further 70 miles west of Key West, Florida.
The Park is Renowned for it's marine life, pirate legends and sheer unspoiled beauty. It is dominated by it's central feature, the majestic Fort Jefferson, the largest 19th century coastal fort. We fly daily offering morning, afternoon or full day trips.
The Key West Business Guild, founded in 1978, was one of the first organizations in the country to promote a travel designation as being gay-friendly. The Island has always had a laissez-faire attitude toward all people, and when the northern gay community “discovered” Key West in the late ‘70s, they became enamored with the vision of what the city could become.
Key West’s gay community, led by one of the country’s first openly gay mayors, Richard Heyman, was instrumental in restoring and preserving the city’s historic architectural treasures. The gay community provided the leadership to establish major events such as October’s world-class Fantasy Fest Celebration.
Today, Key West welcomes over 650,000 gay and lesbian visitors annually. Whether you enjoy the intimate community feeling of an all-male or all-female guesthouse, or the services of a first-class hotel, they are all available for you here. First-class restaurants, kayaking in the back country, snorkeling, diving and fishing, gorgeous sunsets and South Florida’s best drag shows await the gay and lesbian visitor. The best weather in the continental United States with warm ocean temperatures, has made the island city a year-round destination.
Celebrating Key West PrideFest, Gilbert Baker, orginator of the original Rainbow Flag 25 years ago, has constructed the longest such flag in the world, 1.25 miles. This gigantic banner will be stretched the the entire length of Duval Street from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico showing the world that Key West still is the major Gay & Lesbian detination in the United States. Over 3,000 vlolunteers will take part in this ceremony.
In keeping with its history, the motto of the city is “one Human Family” so you’ll find there is total integration with the local community between all groups.
From colorful, casual cafes to five-star gourmet restaurants, Key West serves up a dining experience like no other. Your choices are almost unlimited. Continental cuisine, Caribbean dining, seafood restaurants featuring incredibly fresh local fish and seafood, funky cafes, Italian eateries, eclectic outdoor restaurants, authentic Cuban food, and intimate, romantic settings are all within a matter of blocks.
As one of the closest hotels in Key West to the point of entry, we’re easy to get to. Duval Street, Mallory Square and other Old Town faves are just a quick ride away. Rent a bicycle or a scooter on site or be completely “off duty” and let our Island Host arrange transportation.
