Lapad and Mokošica

The artistic life of Dubrovnik, a very important part of Croatian heritage, is filled by numerous exhibitions, permanent as well as temporal, that are held in variety of galleries and museums around the Old Town. The Dubrovnik Museum in the Duke's Palace keeps 15 thousand exhibits, including collection of furniture from the 17th-19th century, uniforms of dukes and councillors, garments and other items.

The Maritime Museum - Pomorski Muzej Dubrovnik – located in Sveti Ivan tower, has a variety of exhibits on a permanent display with a particular accent on the nautical history of the Dubrovnik Republic. It also houses the Aquarium of the Institute of Biology, with variety of marine species, including octopus and sharks. Franciscan Monastery Museum displays the old pharmacy, as well as the works of old Dubrovnik artists and artisans.



Dominican Monastery Museum exhibits various old Dubrovnik paintings and sculptures from the 15th and the 16th centuries, as well as manuscripts and music notes from the old times. The treasury of the Dubrovnik cathedral keeps the relics of Sveti Vlaho, patron saint of Dubrovnik, and numerous paintings and works of art. Dubrovnik also has its own Dubrovnik Theatre - Kazaliste Marina Drzica , run by local theatre company that holds regular plays for locals as well as for visitors. Dubrovnik Simphony Orchestra is well known classical music orchestra which is based in Dubrovnik. They also have regular concerts in various venues around Old Town – usually at Knezev Dvor - The Rector’s Palace.

Dubrovnik, as any other coastal place in Croatia, offers variety of accommdations in the town itself as well as at surrounding areas and villages.
