The self catering holiday cottages in brief - Grange End and Carree cottage are situated in a uniquely secluded position in the heart of the small picturesque Cumbrian village of Cark-in-Cartmel in The Lake District. The cottages have been carefully converted from an attractive Grade II listed Georgian barn by local craftsmen with the 16th Century farm cottage theme in mind. Enjoy a family self catering holiday in the Lake District, or a romantic break for two. Oak beams are in abundance with a crackling log fire set in an inglenook fireplace.
Hand crafted furniture and mullion surround windows with wood panelled window seats bring the feeling of warmth and peace. The cottage has its own garage, private walled area to front, a lovely private garden with patio, barbecue and open fields to the rear. The cottages are one and a half miles from Cartmel, served by buses, and within easy walking distance of shops and post offices as well as local, welcoming pubs.
The cottages offer the following accommodation: Traditional Lakeland porch, attractive fully-beamed living room with inglenook fireplace and open fire, pine furnished dining room, large fully equipped modern kitchen with beamed ceiling, bathroom with bath and shower, master bedroom with four poster bed, twin bedroom, third bedroom with full size adult bunk beds.
Self Catering Holidays close to Cartmel, The Lake District, Cumbria Cartmel is perhaps one of the most attractive and oldest villages in South Lakeland. The earliest mention of Cartmel (Carthmell) in AD677. During the Reformation the good people of Cartmel were given leave to stop the destruction of their Priory church of St Mary’s, which remains one of the finest ecclesiastical buildings in the north of England. From the 14th Century gate house, which has in the past served as a public school and a prison, explore the ancient streets as they wind their way around this picturesque village. Visit the many classical shops within the village square: The Larch Tree, Tarragon, The Post Office and Grocers which is home of the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding as supplied to Madonna (through Harrods) to name a few. After a pleasant stroll you could always visit our favourite pub, the Kings Arms, with its Hamlett’s Restaurant which has a large range of excellent food and friendly staff.
