Southern border on the Gulf of Mexico

Founded as the town of Santa Rosa in 1910, Santa Rosa Beach spans the South Walton peninsula from the Gulf of Mexico to the Choctawhatchee Bay. Along with luxury beach houses, upscale dining and boutique shopping, Santa Rosa Beach has a vibrant arts community and is home to several parks and an historic cemetery.

Once the center of a thriving turpentine industry, today, Santa Rosa Beach offers a variety of outdoor activities. A large portion of the 15,000-acre Point Washington State Forest is located here featuring over 10 miles of hiking and biking trails.

Each year, more than 30,000 people stop by Beaches of South Walton’s Visitors Center. Miramar Beach

A little village that grew, Miramar Beach was once a sleepy spot on old Highway 98. Today this strip of coast road still reflects the community’s laid back beach personality. As it meanders past classic beach shops, seafood shacks, condos and private beachfront homes, it offers panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico.

A wide variety of accommodations options are available, from full service resorts to single family luxury beach houses. There’s also one of Florida’s rare finds, a beachfront camping and RV park. Local restaurants offer everything from Seafood to Thai cuisine and there are ice cream parlors and coffee shops located all along the beach.

Recreation includes beachcombing, fishing, parasailing, golf, tennis, and shopping, especially since Miramar Beach is home to the nation's largest designer outlet center, Silver Sands Factory Stores. Then again, grabbing a book and heading to the nearest beach chair is always a popular activity.

Sandestin

For years, the name Sandestin has been synonymous with fun. Located on U. S. Highway 98, Sandestin features 2,400 acres of beach and bayfront with stunning scenery and a never-ending list of activities that includes golf, tennis, swimming, and bicycling. There’s even a zip line attraction and a nature trail designed with kids in mind.

The Sandestin Beach area includes Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, a full-service beach resort featuring four golf courses, a marina, and 1,450 accommodations located within 30 distinctive neighborhoods. The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, a contemporary high-rise beachfront hotel with 600 sleeping rooms including suites, is situated within the 2,400-acre Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort complex as is Grand Boulevard @ Sandestin, a premier shopping venue that features brand name retail stores, galleries and restaurants.

Sandestin Beach is also home to numerous events and festivals throughout the year along with award winning restaurants.

Seacrest

A quiet residential community on the east end of Scenic Highway 30A, Seacrest is a mixture of “old” Florida beach houses and new, “Floribbean” charm. This mostly residential beach community has traditionally been one of the quietest since there is very little commercial development. It is also home to Camp Creek Lake, one of several rare coastal dune lakes in the area.

Bordered by Camp Creek Golf Course on the north and the Gulf of Mexico on the south, Seacrest offers a variety of traditional beach vacation activities and outdoor recreation. There’s golf and tennis, kayaking and canoeing, fishing, and hiking in nearby state parks. Beachgoers can enjoy swimming, sunning, kite flying, or sandcastle building and perhaps a game of beach volleyball before watching a spectacular sunset.

In addition, the 19-mile Timpoochee Trail traverses the community allowing walkers and bicyclists easy access to nearby shops, restaurants and other activities.

Seascape

Resort, village and beachfront playground, Seascape blends recreation with easy living. Located on the western edge of Beaches of South Walton, Seascape Golf, Beach & Tennis Resort is a long-time favorite vacation destination featuring over 300 acres of family-friendly activities and a variety of accommodations.

Both year-round residents and visitors enjoy the many amenities of Seascape Resort that include an on-site 18-hole championship golf course and access to a sister course at Emerald Bay. Eight lighted tennis courts, five swimming pools, biking trails, and 2,000 feet of white sand beach add to the outdoor recreation offerings.

The popular Whale's Tail Beach Bar & Grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. It and the beach are easily and safely reached via a walkway over Scenic Highway 98. Seascape Resort accommodations range from low-lying golf, tennis and lakefront villas to two high-rise towers with commanding views of the gulf and the bay.
