Cead Mile Failte, a hundred thousand welcomes to Achill, Co. Mayo. Ireland's most beautiful unspoilt and largest island which is connected to the mainland by a bridge at Achill Sound.

Leave the beach at Keem and travel to Keel village (take the road opposite O'Malleys shop down to the beach). Travel from Keel through Slievemore and into Dugort village, which has two Blue Flag beaches, The Golden Strand and Dugort Beach. Continue your tour through the Valley, Dooniver, Bunnacurry and Cashel. Take a right turn in Cashel into Meewlin and journey to the top of the Minaun Heights, with it's spectacular views of Achill. Continue with your tour through to the village of Dooega to Achill's fifth Blue flag beach.

For swimming, there are five wonderful, Blue Flag beaches. These are at Keel, Keem Bay, Dugort, Golden Strand and Dooega. The Blue Flag, an EU standard, signifies that the beaches are clean and safe for swimming. Water sports such as surfing, windsurfing and canoeing are offered by the Achill Outdoor Education Centre, McDowell's Activity Centre and Tomás Mac lochláinn.The centres offer residential week and weekend courses and they also run a summer camp at Keel Lake for children aged between 7 and 16.
Achill's Golf Course is located in Keel and is a nine hole links which is open to the public. Pitch and Putt is available at the Valley House, and Crazy Golf at the Chalet restaurant, Keel. Achill has some of the best fishing grounds in Europe with upwards of 14 varieties of fish to be caught. For sea fishing enthusiasts, there are two licensed boats for hire, Achill has some of the best scenery in Ireland with many varied and interesting walks suitable for gentle strolls and for the more adventerous hiker.
