Attitash Ski Resort is a popular ski destination located in Bartlett, New Hampshire, in the heart of the White Mountains. It has a rich history dating back several decades. Here's an overview of the Attitash Ski Resort's history:
The Attitash area has a long-standing tradition of skiing that predates the establishment of the ski resort. In the 1930s, local residents began skiing on the slopes of Attitash Mountain, utilizing the natural terrain. As the sport gained popularity, it became clear that a formal ski area was needed to accommodate the growing number of enthusiasts.
In 1965, Attitash Bear Peak Corporation was formed, and the construction of the Attitash Ski Area began. The ski area was officially opened to the public in December 1966 with two chairlifts and a total of eight trails. Over the years, Attitash underwent several expansions and improvements to enhance the skiing experience.
In the 1980s, Attitash merged with neighboring Bear Peak ski area, creating the Attitash Bear Peak Resort. This merger expanded the resort's terrain and amenities, offering visitors a wider variety of skiing options.
Attitash has also hosted numerous ski competitions and events throughout its history. In 1991, it hosted the Alpine Skiing World Cup races, showcasing its world-class facilities and challenging slopes to international athletes.
Over time, Attitash Ski Resort has continually invested in upgrading its infrastructure. It has expanded its trail network, added new lifts, and improved snowmaking capabilities to ensure optimal skiing conditions.
In 2007, the resort became a part of Peak Resorts, a leading ski resort company that owns and operates multiple ski areas across the United States. This affiliation has provided Attitash with access to shared resources and expertise, further enhancing the guest experience.
Today, Attitash Ski Resort continues to be a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. It offers a diverse range of terrain, including groomed trails, glades, and terrain parks.
