The Summer Playground
Hampton Beach is open year round but starting with the first warm, sunny weekend in the spring you will have to travel far and wide to find an audience more enthusiastic than folks returning to Hampton Beach after a long New England winter. Maybe it's the miles of clean, golden sandy beaches, they've been missing or that enormous expanse of green/blue Atlantic. They can smell the sea air about two miles away and by the time they're here--they are hooked. Or maybe it's one of Hampton Beach's world class attractions, events, festivals and entertainment and fireworks schedules.
For openers there is the newly refurbished playground right in the heart of the beach, completely supervised and according to the Albany (N.Y.) "Times". Take them to the beach, the playground, the water slide--they'll take you to one of the arcades. Remember the good old days when you could enjoy a free band concert on your vacation? Well, so does Hampton Beach and they provide a variety of shows twice a night, seven nights a week during the summer.
Imagine some of the best local show bands, rock'n'roll, country, blues, even a polka band, talent and karaoke nights and you have a week's worth of "good old days" right in the middle of Hampton Beach at the Sea Shell Stage. The concert series begins Memorial Day Weekend as do the spectacular Fireworks Displays. Every Wednesday night Hampton Beach is proud to present Jack Knox and his Continentals, a popular variety show band. Jack will keep your toes tapping right up to the fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
Hampton Beach is an active place for swimming, para-sailing, jetskiing, (there's a separate beach for surf boards), or strolling the historic boardwalk. Serious sunbathers will find Hampton's miles of clean white beach unsurpassed. More active vacations include deep sea fishing or whale watching in style from the decks of one of the many charter boats from Hampton Harbor--there is also a nearby public golf course. You are just a trolley ride away from the Hampton Playhouse, an equity summer stock theatre, and the Seabrook Dog Track featuring day and night live and simulcast greyhound and thoroughbred racing. And of course there is the famous Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom celebrating its 100th anniversary as an outstanding venue of Big Name Entertainment.
There are accommodations to suit every taste and budget from hotels, motels and cottages to campgrounds. You may visit to take advantage of the exciting free nightly entertainment and spectacular fireworks or other events but you will stay for the beauty and sheer enjoyment of Hampton Beach - after all, it is the Summer Playground.
